While training to become a yoga teacher this last year, I read an extensive amount on mindfulness and meditation. I have also been a student of meditation for the past 3-4 years and have seen wonderful benefits in my life from it. Much like yoga, I now want to give back by guiding others through meditation.
I have been incorporating guided meditations into my yoga classes and will now be sharing them via audio on my podcast.
In this episode, we practice Pranayama, (breath control) Dhyana, (meditation) and Dharana. (concentration) We explore the body through a body scan to shift awareness out of the thinking mind and into single-pointed attention. We review what meditation means, how it can benefit you in the moments of practice and, more importantly, how it can shape us outside of our practice.
